DFTB, T. Better Supervision at DFTB17, Don't Forget the Bubbles, 2018. Available at:
This talk was recorded live on the first day at DFTB17 in Brisbane. If you missed out in 2017 then why not book your leave for 2018 now. Tickets are on sale for the pre-conference workshops as well as the conference itself at www.dftb18.com.
Bec Nogajski is a Director of Training as well as a Paediatric Emergency Physician. In this talk she brings her experience of supervising many trainees (including Tessa Davis) to the audience. It is not about giving negative or positive feedback but about giving developmental feedback. It’s about creating a safe and supportive culture and it’s about being a positive role model at all times.
Providing meaningful feedback can be a real challenge, especially if you are the sort of person that likes to avoid conflict. So what do you do if you’ve been asked to do something tough? Bec talks about about the Case of the Malodorous Medic – the trainee with body odour issues.
You’ll have to listen to the whole talk to find out how she does it.
You can listen to this talk as you walk to work on any device that supports podcasts.
So, sit back and watch the talk.
